The Journey Home Construction Update: Getting started in the snow

A cold, snowy January day didn’t stop construction from carrying on.

Happy New Year to homeless pets in Indianapolis! In early December 2024, animal lovers were buzzing with excitement as construction equipment showed up at the site of the new home of Indianapolis Animal Care Services.

As we move into February, more exciting things are happening, even if you can’t see them above ground!

What’s happening now?

The site is set up with stakes and fencing for safety and security. Stormwater pollution barriers were installed in January and topsoil was cleared and saved for reuse. The equipment you see in the photo above is being used to excavate a stormwater retention pond and to gather fill materials for the building pad.

What’s next?

Drilling will start soon so we can install piers to support the building foundation.

Stay tuned for your next update in March!
