Construction Update: A Lucky Horseshoe Appears

Construction progress in November shows just how close we are to giving our city’s homeless animals the modern, spacious, and compassionate home they deserve.

What’s happening now?

The exterior is nearly finished, with the roof 98% complete and the exterior brick nearing completion. Windows are also 75% installed, helping to enclose the building. Inside, things are shaping up quickly. Interior masonry walls are 90% complete, and the installation of interior doors, frames, and hardware is already underway. We’re even seeing the first coats of paint in the admin and back-office areas!

The outdoor areas are getting attention, too! The Indianapolis Colts Dog Park, honoring Drake Irsay is looking extra sharp now that the concrete horseshoe inlay is complete. Turf, along with an agility course, is also installed on half of it.

What’s next?

Looking ahead to December, the team will continue painting, installing fire suppression sprinklers, and completing the paving for the employee parking and south entry drive. Plus, they will be installing metal siding panels to the exterior of the main building and enclosing the pole barn for the Indianapolis Colts Barn and Pasture. (Yes, IACS takes in every type of animal you can think of!)

This new facility is set to transform animal care in Indianapolis. We can't wait to celebrate the grand opening!

Stay tuned for more updates in the new year!
