Construction Update: Roof On, Turf Next!

Construction crews have been making fantastic strides, and we're thrilled to share progress on our city’s new animal shelter.

What’s happening now?

On the exterior, all storm lines have been successfully installed to ensure proper drainage away from the building. The team completed the exterior steel stud walls and sheathing, giving the facility a clear outline. And for our four-legged friends, the City-run dog park area saw the installation of under-drain and concrete curbs—getting it one step closer to playtime! To top it all off, the roof is nearly finished, sitting at 95% complete.

Inside the shelter, a lot of hard work is happening! The interior slab pours are mostly done, currently at 80% completion. Interior masonry walls are halfway installed, and crews are working on essential systems like HVAC ductwork and VAV boxes, fire protection sprinkler branch lines, and electrical rough-in.

What’s next?

As we move through late October, the site will transform with natural beauty and more finished touches. The plan includes seeding and straw at the natural turf areas and installing landscaping trees and plants late in the month. Most excitingly for the pups, artificial turf will be installed at the dog park! You can also expect to see exterior site concrete curbs and sidewalks poured, and the start of sub-base prep for asphalt paving in early November. On the structural side, construction will continue with interior slab pours at the outdoor kennel areas and the erection of the pole barn for the large animal building.

Stay tuned for more updates in November!
